Who achieved success at the International Mathematical Olympiad?

Following 12 days of intense mathematical competition at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad, the United States topped the points table and won the competition for the ninth time, 2 points ahead of China. Here are the results from IMO 2024.

While China missed out on continuing its 5-year winning streak, its 16-year-old mathlete Haojia Shi (pictured below) was the only competitor to achieve a perfect score across the six questions, repeating his extraordinary success from last year.

Elsewhere, India’s team was thrilled to finish a best-ever fourth place, and Jessica Wan was the highest-scoring female mathlete.

There was also success for the United Kingdom’s team as well, finishing seventh in Bath with Alex Chui and Samuel Sturge winning Gold medals.
