June Newsletter

It’s the first Tuesday of the month, so welcome Maths Society members to another newsletter bringing the latest stories from the world of maths into your inbox. As the exam season continues across much of the world, it’s a good time to remember that maths can also be a subject of fun and wonder. It’s also a good time to remind yourself where maths can take you if you do well in those exams! The Abel Prize, often called the Noble Prize of Mathematics, was awarded last month to Japanese genius Masaki Kashiwara. His thesis established the foundations for D-Module Theory when he was only 23! If you want to find out what on earth that is, you’ll have to read our article. If you’re looking for your next maths read, take a look at our first ever book review. You might also have a Eureka moment later in the newsletter.
