October Newsletter

Hello members and welcome to your October newsletter! For a while here at Maths Society we’ve been covering the Millennium Prize Problems, a set of seven seminal maths problems set by the Clay Mathematics Institute 26 years ago, each carrying a $1 million prize. Well, in the past month, OpenAI have shocked the world by publishing a proposed proof for the Navier-Stokes existence and smoothness problem, delivered by a swarm of 10,000 co-ordinated AI agents. We explore their discovery and the problem itself. This issue also features a biography of W.V.D. Hodge, who was responsible for last month’s million dollar question.
